Béchamel

Bechamel

Ingredients

30g butter
30g plain flour
500ml milk
pinch of nutmeg
salt & pepper

Method

1. In a saucepan over a low heat melt the butter
2. Add the flour and stir constantly over a low heat for 2 - 3 mins
3. Remove from the heat and add the milk little by little mixing constantly
4. Return to a medium heat and cook for 3 - 4 mins stirring constantly *
5. Add the nutmeg and salt & pepper to season

If the mixture curdles, pass through a fine sieve and reheat*

Makes : 550ml
Preparation : 5 mins
Cooking time : 10 mins
