Love Food Love France Love Vatel

Francois Vatel was the head steward and chef to the great Condé and was famous for inventing Chantilly cream, a sweet, vanilla-flavoured whipped cream, for an extravagant banquet for 2,000 people hosted in honour of Louis XIV by Louis, the great Condé in April 1671 at the Château de Chantilly; hence the name crème Chantilly.

As a lover of all things French and food, I adored Roland Joffré's depiction of this great man, starring Gerard Depardieu and Uma Thurman. The colourful and delicious sets are a mouthwatering experience. A huge must see recommendation.
